HORSEBACK TREKKING IN
JORDAN
HAPPY NEW YEAR
(By Wilfried Colonna, Sabbah Ataeq Al
Zalabieh, Atallah Sweilhin, in 95)
This tour on horseback has as its
starting point, one of the most beautiful deserts in the world.
For six days, fully trained
and experienced Arabian horses will take you through wide desert valleys, framed
by mountains sculpted like baroque cathedrals and edged by vast stretches of
virgin sand.
The "Happy
New
Year"
ride, for those who love the desert and the unspoiled spaces, will be based
around a fixed-camp, in the pure Bedouin lifestyle.
You will enjoy comfortable
facilities during this colder wintertime - a Bedouin family wool tent for meals
(the wool comes from the goats and the camels) in addition to your own tent for
sleeping.
Starting from the heart of Wadi Rum mountains, the daily tours will take you first straight south, to the coastal mountain range of Aqaba ; then to the east, to the Saudi border, and then north, on ³mud flats² of several kilometres - wide, perfectly flat clay plains (phenomenon due to the rapid evaporation of the water after the infrequent rains). The changing nature of the landscape, the terrain and the cultural riches to be explored will make this a unique experience for those who still seek the taste of real adventure!
Without the effort always involved when a new camp is set up every day, you will appreciate the unique atmosphere of Wadi Rum by easy stages, according to your own desires,.
100 % horse riding, 100 % mountains and desert, the Bedouin families and their flocks, ancient drawings (Thamudic, Nabatean), and always new discoveries...
Riding ability: unlike the other rides, the rhythm is more relaxed, allowing a good first contact with Arabian horses, but still very bracing, because of...the cold!
Like the Three Wise Men, we¹ll celebrate the future happiness under a bright blue sky - best wishes for the coming New Year!
